Taking its Mission on the Road

With autism now diagnosed in one of every 150 children, the University of Miami-Nova Southeastern University Center for Autism and Related Disabilities unveiled a new clinic on wheels last Thursday that will travel throughout underserved communities in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe counties, providing free screenings, resources, and education to families. The 23-foot-long Mobile Autism Family Clinic, which includes a therapy/evaluation room, waiting area, and workstation, will be staffed by UM-NSU CARD psychologists, behavioral analysts, and special educators. A $56,000 grant from the Unicorn Children’s Foundation will help the clinic operate.
